Salacca sarawakensis (10 seeds)

Description: This beautiful palm is native to northern Borneo where it grows in damp ravines and on sandy streambanks. The split leaves are held erect on tall spiny petioles and can reach over 4 meters in height. As with other Salacca species, the fruits are edible (though sour) and are covered in a scaly skin, earning them the local name snake fruit. Cultivation recommendations: Requires a warm tropical climate and shelter from wind. Plants do best with moderate to heavy shading and abundant water.
