Description: A native of Borneo where it can be found growing in the tropical lowland foothills often in very shaded areas. It is one of the smallest fan palms in the world, being a compact grower with leaves seldom more than 30 cm wide.
A tropical lowland plant requiring high humidity and a minimum temperature of 20 C for good growth. Prefers rich but well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. The seeds are slow to germinate, sometimes sprouting after a period of 2-3 months.
