Johannesteijsmannia altifons (1 seedling) 
 Description: A beautiful forest palm native to Malaysia and Borneo.  The long diamond- 
shaped leaves, which can be up to a few meters in length, are gathered and used for roof thatching.  There are three other species of Johannesteijsmannia which are endemic to Peninsular Malaysia. 
Cultivation recommendations: 
A tropical lowland plant requiring high humidity and a minimum temperature of 20 C for good growth.  Prefers rich but well-drained soil that is slightly acidic.
