Licuala orbicularis (1 plant)

Description: A native of Sarawak, this species is renowned for its spectacular foliage. The dark green leaves, which are held on long petioles in mature specimens, are flat and nearly circular in shape. Unlike L. grandis, this species develops no trunk. The leaves are collected by native peoples and used for temporary thatching of jungle shelters. Cultivation recommendations: A tropical lowland plant requiring high humidity and a minimum temperature of 20 C for good growth. Prefers rich but well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. The seeds are slow to germinate, sometimes sprouting after a period of 2-3 months.
